Land, Places, Spaces

Educators foster ethical pedagogies by

  • Acknowledging that all early childhood programs take place on unceded territories and treaty lands of Indigenous peoples.
  • Acknowledging that all practices are deeply implicated – albeit in different ways  – in the ongoing legacy of colonization.
  • Challenging and rethinking the raced, classed, gendered and heteronormative visions that are inherited in all practices.
  • Co-designing living spaces that:
    • honour land-inspired aesthetics
    • respect lives
    • are sustainable
    • are accessible
    • include materials that live in relationship to the place
    • support collective wellbeing
  • Co-learning within, engaging with, caring for, and being accountable to:
    • Multi-place relations
    • Multi-species relations
    • Multi-material relations
  • Promoting livable, sustainable and ethical relations with place, species, materials and other world's forces.
